This entitles you to occupy a unit within the Cooperative. While an individual
does not own his or her unit, you are still an owner of the Cooperative! Individuals
just like you select a board of directors from their membership to manage the
Cooperative. A monthly association fee is usually assessed to cover taxes, repairs
or maintenance. Your shares will equal the market rate of your unit. Cooperatives
have a broader range when it comes to restrictions, such as seniors only. As
some of these Cooperatives have a waiting list, it can never be too soon to look
at this style of homeownership.
